Jan 19- The Webster Parish Library has posted the new Minden area Outreach schedule. The Outreach Service is a free service of the public library which serves nursing home residents, the Arbor, and Minden Medical Center Senior Care. To better serve its patrons, the program specializes in offering regular print books, large print books, audio books, and books on CD. You may request specific authors or titles, or materials can be selected for you based on your reading preferences. The Outreach Service van visits are made every two weeks on Thursday. Scholarship program for area 7th graders
Jan 15- The Jack Kent Cooke Young Scholars Program is a scholarship program that provides educational services for high-achieving, academically gifted youth with financial need in the 7th grade. Through the foundation Young Scholars receive advice and financial assistance for summer and out-of-school academic enrichment programs as well as access to computers, software or other learning technology. Young scholars also receive music, art or other talent lessons as well as mentoring or leadership programs and college admission advising and more. Teen Game Day
Nov 10 (Updated Nov 16)- The Minden Main Branch library hosted a Teen Game Day this past Saturday, November 14 for ages 13-17 from 10am to 3pm! Library hosts free concert
Dec 17 (Updated Dec 18)- The Webster Parish Library hosted a free-to-the-public concert by world renound violinist Paul Rosenthal and pianist Doris Stevenson. This free performance was held at the newly renovated Webster Parish Library's Stewart Center in Minden on Thursday, December 17. This free performance was sponsored by The Piatigorsky Foundation (www.piatigorskyfoundation.org), Minden Main Street (www.mindenusa.com) and The Webster Parish Library (www.webster.lib.la.us).
Library will be closed Monday, February 15
Feb 3- The Minden and Springhill library branches will be closed Monday, February 15 for in-service training. In-service training is an annual educational day for library staff to help develop skills and specific disciplines and to improve customer service. Training on new policies, procedures and software as well as a review of current disciplines are all covered. We look forward to better serving our patrons through this training.
Tween/Teen Karaoke n’ Pizza
Sep 29- The Minden Main Branch Library held a Tween/Teen Karaoke party on October 26. Tweens ages 9-12 and teens ages 13-17 came to have a great time. Each karaoke performer had pizza and drinks. Any pictures and/or video taken will be on the library website soon.
Minden Main Branch Story Time
Sep 10 (Updated Oct 15)- The Minden Main Branch Story Time started on Wednesday, October 21 at 10:00 a.m. Story Time is for children ages 2 to 5 years old. Story Time helps promote listening, learning and interaction with other children during the reading of stories.
