Library honors African-American History Month

Feb 18- African-American History month is a remembrance of important people and events in the history of the African diaspora. The United States historian Carter G. Woodson founded this remembrance in 1926 "Negro History Week". Woodson chose the second week of February because it marked the birthdays of two Americans who greatly influenced the lives and social condition of African Americans: former President Abraham Lincoln and abolitionist and former slave Frederick Douglass. The Webster Parish Library was proud to honor this event by showcasing art and literature featuring African-Amercian subjects, artists and authors. Please click on images to enlarge.
